In this scam, unsuspecting victims are asked to pay an upfront fee to the scammers so that they are sent the envelopes, addresses and letters to be included in the envelopes. When nothing arrives, the scam is discovered but by then, it is impossible to retrieve the money that was already sent. The envelope stuffing scheme has been used for a long time but is still one of the most common ways that scammers target people and steal their money
